Charles Barkley has recently put pen on paper on a new deal to extend his stay with the reputed talk show NBA on TNT. Barkley, 59, who enjoyed a decorated NBA career where he turned out for the Philadelphia 76ers, the Phoenix Suns and the Houston Rockets has always spoken about retiring at the age of 60 – but recent reports have suggested otherwise.

Recent reports have suggested that Barkley has signed a fresh ten-year deal with the talk show that goes to pay him more than nine figures. Barkley currently has three years left on a contract that pays him $10 million per season. His current contract coincides with TNT’s agreement with the NBA deal expiring after the 2024-25 season.

Suppose Turner Television were not to keep the NBA. In that case, Barkley could potentially own rights to go work for another network or a digital platform, if Amazon or Apple or others are involved. It is being speculated that the total amount Barkley can earn can be well in excess of $100 million and could approach $200 million.

However, Barkley was not the only one to extend his stay with the show, as his colleagues, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith and Ernie Johnson also signed up as was revealed by the TNT network recently, and Barkley chose to thank them.

What did Charles Barkley have to say about his NBA on TNT colleagues?

After signing his latest deal, Barkley said: “We’re all a big family. Ernie, Kenny and Shaquille are like brothers to me, and I wouldn’t still be here if it wasn’t for them and all the amazing people who work on our show.

Barkley added: “I’m not gonna lie, this is a life-altering deal… and I’m blessed to be able to do live television for a living.”
