Charles Barkley debuted for the Philadelphia 76ers in 1984 where he joined a veteran team that included Julius Erving, Moses Malone, and Maurice Cheeks. The Sixers advanced to the 1984 Eastern Conference Finals but they were defeated by Boston Celtics. In the postseason, rookie Barkley averaged 14.9 points and 11.1 rebounds per game.
During the 1992-1993 season, Barkley was traded to the Phoenix Suns. The deal went well for both Barkley and the Suns. In 1993, Barkley won the NBA Most Valuable Player award. In the same season, Barkley went to the NBA Finals for the first time in his career. However, they lost to the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls.
In 1996, Barkley was traded to the Houston Rockets where he joined legendary players like Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon.
