On Thursday night, the Indian Pacers faced off against the Cleveland Cavaliers. And just as the game started, Hield made his epic NBA record.

So, this is what has happened.

Just as Jarett Allen of the Cleveland Cavaliers tipped the opening jump ball, Buddy Hield of the Indiana Pacers caught the ball, turned around, and shot an instant 3-pointer, which went in. The basket was made about 3 seconds into the game.

Notably, coming into Thursday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Buddy Hield already had the record of the most 3-pointers in the league this NBA season (132) while hitting 41.9% from long range.

Take a look at Hield hitting the fastest 3-point shot:

This is the fastest 3-pointer to start a game during the NBA‘s play-by-play era, which began in 1996.

Also, with this 3-pointer, Buddy Hield broke the long-standing record of another Pacers legend Reggie Miller. Interestingly, Miller made a 3-pointer 4 seconds into a game in 2000.
