Anthony Davis leaves the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Los Angeles Lakers game early due to “flu-like symptoms”

The Lakers struggled in a 116-102 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Tuesday night as Anthony Davis was bound to leave the game ‘with flu-like symptoms’ after the first quarter.

The player remained out for the remainder of the game after being observed heading directly to the locker room.

The Lakers went 8-2 to make up for the majority of their mediocre start to the season after Davis did score 99 points in his two previous games and had been on a tear for the previous ten. In eight minutes, he only scored one point before being asked to leave. The Lakers were down by eight points at half-time and 19-13 when Anthony Davis departed the game with flu-like symptoms.

Lakers’ coach Darvin Ham’s point of view on Anthony Davis being diagnosed with flu

Darvin Ham, the Lakers’ head coach, claimed that Davis’ temperature grew worse during the day, “His temperature was 101 degrees and changing,” Darvin Ham said. The coach added, “He wanted to play, but he was too weak. He is exhausted and dehydrated. With the way he’s been playing recently, that’s a major loss”.

Davis is concerned about his COVID-19 performance and is not expected to play on Wednesday in Toronto, according to the coach. Injuries have necessitated the eight-time All-Star to participate only in 76 games over the last two seasons.

On Monday, he was named the “NBA Western Conference Player of the Week.” Davis had the second-highest point total of any player in a game this season with 55 points in Sunday’s 130-119 decisive win over the Washington Wizards.
