During the summer, the Washington Wizards and Bradley Beal came to terms on a massive contract that will pay him $251 million over the course of five years. During the following year, he will bring in more money than any other player in the league. After having wrist surgery and missing the entirety of the previous season, Beal will be looking to make a successful comeback this year.

Despite the fact that Beal has been selected as an All-Star in three of the previous four seasons for Washington, the Wizards have missed the playoffs in each of the previous three seasons in which he has played. After several years of uncertainty regarding his future plans, he has made the decision to sign a long-term contract with the Wizards.

Beal exercised a player option that he had negotiated into a contract extension that he signed in 2020 on Wednesday, so formally opting out of a contract extension that he had signed in 2020. He did, despite all, continue to call Washington his home. It did nothing more than provide him the opportunity to accept a new deal at his actual maximum wage, which allowed him to make the most money possible while he was still a member of the Wizards.

Ahead of the start of the new season, Beal had a conversation with the media in which he discussed the obstacles and the objective that he has established for himself with this Wizards squad moving forward into the future.

Talking about it, Beal said, “My main focus is winning games and trying to help this organization hold up a Larry [O’Brien trophy] one day. That’s my goal. That’s my goal, that’s my dream.”

He added, “I’ve shown I can score with the best of them, I’ve shown I can be an All-Star, I’ve shown I can be an All-NBA player. I’ve checked every box. Now I have to win and be a winner. That’s my final box that I want to check and will check.”

The Washington Wizards have a pretty good team around Bradley Beal for this season

Bradley Beal’s decision to remain a member of the Wizards has been the subject of numerous criticisms. Many people in the league are of the opinion that he is capable of making a significant contribution to the success of a team, but he has made the decision to remain faithful to the organization that chose him. Beal also has the desire to win a championship for Washington and show everyone that they are wrong.

The Washington Wizards have improved their roster by adding several players of high caliber, which could help them in their quest to make the NBA playoffs. Both Kyle Kuzma and Kristaps Porzingis will be essential to the team’s success, particularly in light of the fact that Bradley Beal will be returning in the following season.

Will Barton and Monte Morris, both formerly of the Nuggets, were both acquired by the Wizards, and both are expected to play significant roles for the team. It is our sincere hope that Beal will be able to lead them from the front and make the enormous financial advantages of this contract worthy for him.

Bradley Beal knows that the responsibility of leading this team will be on him, and he isn’t running away from that challenge either. Talking about it Beal said, “Win, lose or draw; it will be my fault. It sure will. I’m okay with that. I’ve learned to accept that, I’m confident in that,” Beal said. “I’d rather you guys blame me than blame anybody in that locker room. I’m at that point in my career, I’ve always been that way. It’s accepting that and, to me it doesn’t bother me. It just doesn’t.”
