There aren’t many details regarding his 2020 salary in WWE, but it should be a decent amount given that he is a regular on Raw at the moment.

Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) Early Career

MVP got into the wrestling business thanks to some help from a corrections officer who worked in the indie scene.

The WWE star made his debut in 2002 and wrestled in many small promotions. He did appear on Ring of Honor and made several appearances on TNA too. MVP also fought some of the most experienced wrestlers of the time such as Jerry Lynn and D’Lo Brown.

However, MVP’s big break came in 2005 as he signed with WWE. He departed from the company in 2011 and made moves in New Japan Pro Wrestling.

MVP also spent a couple of years on TNA and wrestled in other independent circuits before returning to WWE in 2020.

It was during his first stint in WWE that he was diagnosed with the heart condition Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome. However, regular checks allowed him to continue working while being tested by WWE.

MVP’s first stint in WWE worked out well as he won the United States title twice. He was also the Tag Team champion alongside Matt Hardy.

Porter was first sent to Deep South Wrestling to work on his in-ring abilities and develop his character. This is where his MVP character was developed. He made his WWE SmackDown debut in 2006 and his first rivalry was with Kane.

He won the US title by defeating Chris Benoit. MVP then joined forces with Matt Hardy to win the tag titles and became a double champion.

MVP, however, lost both titles later on in the year and was switched to Raw in 2009. MVP’s first US title reign lasted almost a year and was the longest at the time. He kept the belt for 343 days and then went on a losing streak that lasted five months.

His move to Raw in 2009 didn’t work out for him and he was released from his WWE contract in 2010 December despite featuring in several Money in the Bank matches.

MVP made his WWE return in 2018 in a poker segment but the real return was a couple of years later.

He was one of the surprise entrances in the 2020 Royal Rumble and fought Rey Mysterio later. That was claimed to be his last match in WWE, however, he returned with his VIP Lounge and now is the manager for Bobby Lashley.

Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP) Family

MVP’s father was a police officer and the WWE star was born in Miami, Florida. MVP joined a graffiti gang when he was 12 but that turned into a street gang later on.

The WWE star has spent time in a juvenile detention center after a robbery and even spent close to 10 years in prison for armed robbery and kidnapping.

However, MVP changed his name to Assad during his time in prison and started getting into wrestling thanks to a correctional officer.

Not much is known about his family, but MVP’s match against Mysterio in 2020 was claimed to be a final clash to allow his son to watch his dad in action.

However, there aren’t any other details available regarding MVP’s current family.
