The popular game Microsoft Flight Simulator is getting a Game of The Year(GOTY) Edition with many bonus perks for loyal gamers. 

Microsoft Flight Simulator first landed in our hearts as a PC game in 2020, and it’s only become better since then, thanks to updates and a console release. Now that the developers have revealed Microsoft Flight Simulator: Game of the Year Edition, we’re all looking forward to the free DLC that will be available.

The GOTY Edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator will be a free update for all versions of the game. Six new Discovery Flights, 14 new tutorial missions, an updated weather system, early DirectX12 support, a dev mode replay system, and detailed photogrammetry updates for Helsinki, Freiburg im Breisgau, Brighton, Derby, Eastbourne, Newcastle, Nottingham, and Utrecht will all be included in the free DLC.

On November 18th, players will be able to upgrade their game, which is only a day away at the time of writing. On this day, keep an eye out for any kind of patch on your PC or Xbox! We don’t have a specific date for when the update will be released, but if we learn anything new, we’ll make sure to update this post.

Microsoft Flight Simulator GOTY Price

For players who already own a copy of the game, this new DLC will be absolutely free! But if you dont own the game, you can buy it right now. There are three different editions of the game with bonus content for each different edition. Here are the three editions of Microsoft Flight Simulator.

  • Standard Edition – $59.99 with 20 planes and 30 airports
  • Deluxe Edition – $89.99 with 25 planes and 35 airports
  • Premium Deluxe Edition – $119.99 with 30 planes and 40 airports

Along with that, the following new features will be added to the game as announced on the Xbox Website.

New Missions

  • Based on the popularity of the recently introduced Discovery Flights, we are adding an additional 6 locations (Helsinki, Freiburg im Breisgau, Mecca, Monument Valley, Singapore, and Mount Cook) to this popular series.

New Tutorials

  • To further expand the onboarding experience, we are adding 14 new tutorials, introducing simmers to Bush flying (in an Icon A5) and IFR (in a Cessna 172).

New Features

  • We are also pleased to introduce several highly requested features by the community: an updated weather system, early access to DX12, and a dev mode replay system.

New Photogrammetry Cities

  • As part of our ongoing collaboration with Bing Maps, we are pleased to add a number of new photogrammetry cities: Helsinki (Finland), Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany), Brighton, Derby, Eastbourne, Newcastle, and Nottingham (UK) and Utrecht (Netherlands).
