Manchester United Opinion: 3 potential English summer signings for United

Manchester United have recently come back from the dead. Despite the presence of a world-class manager like Jose Mourinho, they tore down to shambles earlier in the campaign and it took a mid-season hot-seat shuffle to bring them back to their best.

Former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was the man brought in to try and do a job at Old Trafford and he turned things around almost immediately. Barring the recent lacklustre loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Red Devils have been doing decently enough.

Now, the time for progress is upon them. In Marcus Rashford, they have one of the brightest talents in world football under their belt. Like the massive success the Englishman has enjoyed over the season, United should be looking to bring in a new breed on British-bred stars.

With the core of the squad effectively in place, there are only minor adjustments that need to be made before United can challenge at the highest level again.

As suggested in a recent report by The Daily Mail, here are the three English players that United are said to be targeting in the upcoming summer transfer window:

Aaron Wan-Bissaka

This 21-year-old right-back has been an absolute revelation in the Premier League this season and his performances have assured him a place in the Eagles’ starting XI. His pace and attacking capabilities are unquestionable while he also boasts an extremely composed head.

The fact that Antonio Valencia is now 33 will be another motivation for United to move for this exciting young prospect, who has played 27 league games this term and even managed to notch up a couple of decent assists.

Declan Rice

The West Ham starlet has really burst into the Premier League scene this season. He has the versatility to play as a centre-half or as a holding midfielder which makes him an excellent option for one of the league’s bigger clubs.

His class on the ball is quite clear as seen in the composure he shows and his attributes are still developing, albeit at an alarming rate. He can slot into the United midfield for years to come because he has all the makings of the next English superstar.

Jadon Sancho

The former Manchester City academy product was sold to German giants Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2017 and how they must be regretting that mistake now. He has shown immense potential and is far above and beyond any other English winger in terms of creativity.

The tricks he displays on the pitch are out of this world and his movement is unreadable for defenders. He can really form a relationship with Rashford and Lingard in the United attack and they must go all out to bring Sancho to the red side of Manchester for a change.
