Manchester United Opinion: Why Adrien Rabiot will be a good fit for United?

According to a report from the Sun, Manchester United have joined the race for Paris Saint-Germain outcast, Adrien Rabiot.

The France international, 23, will become a free agent in summer as his contract with PSG will expire.

The likes of Barcelona, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all interested in snapping up Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer, but Manchester United are looking to hijack their rivals’ transfer plans by bringing the midfielder to Old Trafford, the report adds.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned Manchester United’s fortunes around since being appointed interim manager in December.

The Norwegian tactician has made a record-breaking start at Old Trafford, with the Daily Mirror recently claiming the 46-year-old is set to be announced as manager over the upcoming international break.

Manchester United and their fans will hope this can be settled as soon as possible as the club certainly needs to start planning for the summer transfer window ahead of the new season after a largely disappointing campaign this term.

Solskjaer has made United play a dynamic, expansive brand of football but whether the team gets a Champions League berth for next season remains to be seen.

Whatever is the outcome, the Red Devils’ target should be to close the gap up the table and challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title.

For that to happen, reinforcing the squad in the summer transfer window is a must. While addressing the defensive problems is an absolute necessity, Solskjaer should also focus on strengthening his options in midfield.

They have Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera, Fred, Nemanja Matic, Scott McTominay and Andreas Pereira as options in central midfield. But Matic has entered the 30s and Fred hasn’t lived up to the billing at Old Trafford, hence signing a central midfielder in the summer clearly makes sense.

And Rabiot would be an ideal fit for United. The Frenchman is a versatile midfielder but he clearly flourishes in dictating the tempo of the game and breaking the opposition’s play from central midfield. He is very good at finding and exploiting space, capable of marauding through the middle of the park with the ball at his feet.

The 23-year-old is a classy operator of the ball and he possesses excellent vision, as well as an impressive range of passing. Rabiot moves with ease and poise and would undoubtedly help United improve upon the fluidity of their play through the middle of the pitch.

Conclusion

At 23, Rabiot has still a lot of room for development and certainly can take his game to the next level under the watchful eyes of Solskjaer.

As far as United are concerned, signing a player of the French midfielder’s experience and quality on a free transfer this summer would represent nothing but daylight robbery.
