4th-seeded team of Monica Niculescu and Viktorija Golubic takes on Cristina Bucsa and Bibiane Schoofs in the semifinals of the 2023 Lyon Open on Saturday.

It has been a fine campaign thus far for Cristina Bucsa and Bibiane Schoofs. They have had to battle hard in both the matches they have played till now and they have done it commendably and persevered.
In the round of 16, Bucsa and Schoof faced the team of Ingrid Gamarra Martins and Angela Kulikov. After dropping the first set, Bucs and Schoof bounced back strongly to win the match 5-7, 6-4, 10-4. In the quarterfinals, the Dutch-Spanish duo met the top-seeded team of Zhang Shuai and Alycia Parks. Bucsa and Schoof started positively and took the first set convincingly. Shuai and Parks came back to win a closely-contested second set. However, they were blown away in the third set as Bucsa and Schoofs won the match 6-2, 6-7 (3-7), 10-2.
Monica Niculescu & Viktorija Golubic
The team of Monica Niculescu and Viktorija Golubic was set to begin their campaign in the Lyon Open by facing the team of Ulrikke Eikeri and Anna Blinkova in the round of 16. However, that match did not take place as Eikeri and Blinkova pulled out prior to the match.
Golubic and Niculescu advanced to the quarterfinals where they were given a real scare by the American duo of Kaitlyn Christian and Sabrina Santamaria. Golubic and Niculescu lost the first set but fought back strongly to win the match 5-7, 6-1, 10-7.
