Leicester City Opinion: Two players the Foxes should sign this summer

According to a report from the Sun, Leicester City will give manager Brendan Rodgers a bumper transfer kitty of £200m to spend in the summer window.

After a miserable run of from that saw the Foxes go six games without a win, the club sacked Claude Puel and replaced him with Brendan Rodgers in February. Under Rodgers so far, Leicester City have won two games and lost one in the Premier League.

With less than 10 games left for the season to end, attention should turn towards planning for the 2019/20 campaign. Rodgers will have to start plotting potential targets from now as he is set to receive a huge outlay of money from the club in the summer.

Leicester have a good mix of youth and experience but for the challenging the Big Six of the Premier League, Rodgers needs to invest money on the right players. That being said, here are at least two players the Midlands club should sign this summer.

1. Callum Wilson (Bournemouth)

Jamie Vardy remains Leicester’s main man up front and while he looks perfect to lead the attack in Rodgers’ system, having a player in the elk of Bournemouth’s Callum Wilson would make the Foxes more potent.

Wilson is already heavily linked with a move to the King Power Stadium and for all right reasons. The 27-year-old has performed consistently in the Premier League ever since achieving promotion with the Cherries. He has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 11 goals and supplying six assists in 23 league games, leading to a call-up to the national team.

The England international has pace to burn and agility to make runs in behind defenders. Wilson is also a ruthless finisher, making him a perfect partner for Vardy up front.

Given his form and vast improvement in the last couple of years, Rodgers must not hesitate to spend big on Wilson this summer.

2. Elif Elmas (Fenerbahce)

Leicester also need to strengthen their options in midfield ahead of the next season.

In Wilfred Ndidi and Nampalys Mendy, the Foxes have two strong holding midfielders. Youri Tielemans has been bright since joining on loan from AS Monaco and the club should sign the diminutive Belgian on a permanent deal.

But to challenge the Big Six, Rodgers would definitely need more quality in central midfield. He should consider signing highly-rated Fenerbahce midfielder Elif Elmas, who has already attracted interest from Leicester.

Elmas is just 19 but is considered one of the hottest young properties in Europe. The Macedonian of Turkish descent has been a breakout star for Fenerbahce this season, establishing himself as a regular in the team.

The teenager is calm and composed on the ball, possessing excellent range of passing and capable enough to split open defences with his vision. Elmas can play in a variety of roles across the midfield, meaning his versatility could come handy for Rodgers if he manages to sign him.

The player has a huge potential and Rodgers could be the right manager to unlock it.
