Leeds United Opinion: Leeds would benefit by signing Cody Drameh to a great extent

Leeds United have made a lucrative offer for Fulham teenage talent Cody Drameh, as per Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Fulham U17 player was on the verge of joining Eintracht Frankfurt but the Whites have now come up with a significant bid.

Drameh 2

Drameh, 17, was one of the breakout stars in Premier League 2 division 2, which is played by the reserves teams.

A full-back by trade, Drameh bagged a goal and two assists and featured in EFL trophy and FA youth cup as well. He also made his debut for the Three Lions U18 side earlier this year.

Should Leeds sign Drameh?

The Whites have benefitted well from their primary choice right-back Luke Ayling, who has been toiling since his move from Bristol City in 2016.

The former Arsenal youth-product has become a regular for the West Yorkshire outfit over the course with 114 games. He bagged an impressive 8 goals in the recently concluded season and is versatile at playing as a centre-back and a defensive midfielder.

The 27-year-old also evidently ran out of proper backup options and Marcelo Bielsa thoroughly relied on him.

Drameh would be a fantastic signing that could allow the Argentine manager to reduce the burden of Ayling. But the Cottagers youth is expected to face fierce competition from Robbie Gotts, another Elland Road teenager, who is shaping up as a promising talent.

The 19-year-old is yet to receive his first-team call up from Bielsa. Though it appears that Drameh can’t feature in the starting 11 straightaway, Bielsa could make good use of the English teenager by providing him with enough chances.

He would also have the chance to succeed Ayling in the future, as his contract expires in two seasons.

Verdict

The Whites are in the transfer market for reinforcements, given that Bielsa is determined to achieve Premier League promotion in the upcoming Championship campaign.

And the Peacocks should aim to reap maximum rewards by taking minimal risks – by betting on promising youngsters like Drameh.
