Why Rhian Brewster would be a good addition at Leeds United

According to Football Insider, (h/t Birmingham Mail), Leeds United are plotting a second move in the summer for Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster.

The Marcelo Bielsa-led side had, back in New Year, shown an interest in the 20-year-old finisher before he signed for Swansea on loan till the end of this season. With his contract at Swansea set to expire in the summer, Leeds are hopeful of roping in the finisher, who they feel the Reds will allow going on loan in order to gain some valuable experience.

Moreover, the dominance of attacking trio Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane in the attack has made it difficult for the youngster to make inroads into the first-team line-up. Also, with manager Jurgen Klopp on the lookout for a new attacker, Leeds believe that the German would allow Brewster to leave on loan, provided the Reds land a new player.

Brewster, meanwhile, has been an instant hit at the Liberty Stadium, scoring four goals in his 11 league appearances. Despite his young age, he has proved to be a key player for the Steve Cooper-led side that has seen two wins and five draws in the 11 games he has played for them so far.

The English youngster, meanwhile, has only appeared three times for his parent club, all of which have come in the domestic cup this season. However, he is a proven performer, having impressed for the Reds youth side in the Premier League 2.

Leeds United, on the other hand, have enjoyed a successful outing so far, with the club on top of the Championship table – thanks to the sensational form of their striker Patrick Bamford. The Leeds striker has been excellent in front of goal, scoring 13 times in 36 games.

However, apart from Bamford, Leeds do not have a second striker as reliable as Bamford.

They currently signed Jean-Kevin Austin on loan from RB Leipzig, however, he will depart in the summer. Also, he has failed to impress since arriving at Elland Road. Their other forward Tyler Roberts, meanwhile, lacks experience and has still has a long way to go.

Considering all this, it would do them a world of good if Brewster arrives in the summer, with the club most likely to gain Premier League promotion next season.

Verdict

Given Leeds United’s lack of reliable finishers, making a loan move for Brewster seems like a wise choice. Moreover, if they achieve promotion to the top-flight, Brewster could be a good back-up for main-man Bamford. Thus, Leeds United should once again renew their interests in the former target.
