Jurgen Klopp’s All-time best XI – Who makes the cut?

Jurgen Klopp is considered to be one of the best managers to ever coach a team. After beginning his managerial career with FSV Mainz, he went on to become a household name at Borussia Dortmund.

The 52-year-old helped Dortmund lift two Bundesliga titles before taking charge of Liverpool in October 2015. He has successfully lifted the Reds from their ruins and claimed the World’s best coach award at the end of last season.

In the process, he has been helped in his success by some talented footballers in his career. Though very few were brought as superstars, the German has the knack of helping raw talents grow into fine articles.

Let’s take a look at the all-time best XI of current Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

Alisson Becker (GK)

The Brazilian was signed by Klopp for Liverpool in the summer of 2018 from Italian outfit AS Roma. He went on to help the Reds lift the Champions League trophy last season and also won the Copa America tournament with Brazil. The Shot-stopper also took away the Golden Glove award in both tournaments last year.

Lukasz Piszczek (RB)

Trent Alexander-Arnold may be the best at the moment under the German, but it is Piszczek who gets the nod here. The Polish international was a reliable player under Klopp in their title-winning campaign, scoring 4 goals and providing 8 assists. Klopp turned him into one of the best in the business and he has gone on to play for 12 seasons with Dortmund.

Mats Hummels (CB)

Arguably the best centre-back in his prime and under the management of Klopp. He won the World Cup with Germany and was Klopp’s defensive rock for six years. However, he has had his own problems with injuries but is still continuing to put in his best for Dortmund.

Virgil van Dijk (CB)

The Netherlands international has become one of the key players in the German tactician’s plans. He has been an ever-present in Liverpool’s defence since his arrival. He has surely developed into a world-class defender.

Andy Robertson (LB)

It seemed like he was being signed to add depth to the squad back in 2017. Instead, the Scotsman has developed into one of the finest left-backs under Klopp. He has been regularly delivering for the team with his assists and pressing higher up the pitch.

Jordan Henderson (CM)

The Englishman was putting in some unacceptable performances earlier in his career but credit must go to Klopp for Henderson’s transformation. He was made the captain and he has led them to a Champions League title already, with the league crown on its way.

Ilkay Gundogan (CDM)

The German was considered a midfield maestro for Dortmund under the management of Klopp. His deep-lying playmaking skills were top-notch and he went on to catch the attention of Pep Guardiola. Now that he is free from injuries, he should be able to get back to his best.

Mario Gotze (CM)

He was handed his Dortmund debut by Klopp and was a teenage prodigy who had a big hand in Dortmund’s title-winning campaign. The midfielder went on to fulfil every German’s wish by scoring a goal in the World Cup final against Argentina.

Mohamed Salah (RW)

The Egyptian is one of the best forwards in the Premier League at the moment. He won the Golden boot award in his first season at Anfield and is still continuing to wreak havoc to the defender in England’s top-flight.

Robert Lewandowski (ST)

By far, the best centre-forward Klopp has managed in his career. Took Dortmund to greater heights with his goalscoring abilities and has transformed into the best and lethal finisher in football.

Sadio Mane (LW)

From FC Metz to Liverpool, mane has had an illustrious journey to the top. He has established himself as one of the best wingers in the game under Klopp and has taken every opportunity thrown at him.
