Predicted Man United XI to face Norwich City in the Premier League

Man United suffered a blow in their pursuit of a place in the final of the EFL Cup after a 3-1 defeat at the hands of rivals Man City in the semi-final first leg on Tuesday night.

Following an enthralling round of cup fixtures, the Red Devils now turn their attention to the Premier League and United will be the outright favourites when they play host to relegation-threatened Norwich City on Saturday.

Norwich City suffered a 3-1 defeat at Carrow Road against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side back in October and they could have their work cut out once again this time around.

Team News

Solskjaer has quite a few injuries to contend with ahead of United’s home fixture against Norwich City. Paul Pogba (ankle), Scott McTominay (knee), Eric Bailly (knee), Axel Tuanzebe (thigh) and Timothy Fosu-Mensah (knee) are all ruled out.

Harry Maguire picked up an injury against Wolves in the FA Cup and could miss the weekend clash against the Canaries while Luke Shaw is in line for a return from his illness after missing the FA Cup and EFL Cup fixtures.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Predicted XI

1. David de Gea (GK)

The Spaniard wasn’t at fault for any of the goals against Man City on Tuesday and he has always been the undisputed first-choice between the sticks for the Red Devils in the Premier League.

2. Aaron Wan-Bissaka (RB)

The youngster has established himself as one of the first names on Solskjaer’s teamsheet this season and is expected to start on Saturday.

3. Victor Lindelof (CB)

The Swede looked completely lost against a potent Man City attack on Tuesday and United definitely need a better shift from him at the weekend.

4. Phil Jones (CB)

The England international was quite shocking and almost ended up humiliating himself in the EFL Cup semi-final derby but he could get another start on Saturday if Maguire doesn’t make it back to the eleven.

5. Luke Shaw (LB)

The former Southampton man missed the FA Cup and EFL Cup fixtures but he should be fresh and ready to replace Williams on the team sheet against Norwich City.

6. Nemanja Matic (CDM)

The Serbian came on as a substitute against City but he is expected to replace Andreas Pereira in the eleven on Saturday after a woeful display from the Brazilian in the EFL Cup.

7. Fred (CM)

The Brazilian has done a decent job in the middle of the park for United this term and he is expected to retain his place for this one.

8. Juan Mata (CAM)

The former Chelsea man was an unused substitute on Tuesday and Solskajer should give him a run against Norwich on Saturday after a shocking display from Jese Lingard.

9. Mason Greenwood (RW)

Daniel James has looked jaded in recent games and Solskjaer should back the impressive academy graduate with another start at the weekend.

10. Marcus Rashford (LW)

He is currently Man United’s top-scorer and the Red Devils will rely heavily on him once again to deliver the goods in front of goal.

11. Anthony Martial (ST)

The Frenchman didn’t start either of the cup fixtures against Wolves and Man City but he has been a regular fixture in the Premier League and should start on Saturday.
