Why Hull City will be a great place for Ben Woodburn to rediscover his best

The Sun has revealed that Championship side Hull City lead the race for Ben Woodburn, as Liverpool look to send out the 19-year-old on loan once again.

The highly-rated Welsh forward endured a torrid time during his loan spell with Sheffield United earlier this season, making just 10 appearances with only five coming as a starter. He eventually returned to Anfield in December, with the loan spell being called off and now he wants to go back out again on loan.

For Hull City, Ben Woodburn would be key to any hopes that they do have of even coming close to the top six teams. At the moment right-winger Jarrod Bowen is their top scorer and the 22-year-old has been in excellent form for the Tigers. However, Kamil Grosicki leads the assists charts with six so far but the closest to the Polish international is Chris Martin with 4, followed by Bowen and Evandro with just three.

This showcases exactly what Ben Woodburn can offer and the Welsh international’s ability to play across the front-line will be of great use to manager Nigel Adkins. Not only will some of the creative burden be taken of Grosicki’s shoulders but Woodburn’s effectiveness in front of goal will also help Jarrod Bowen. The 19-year-old is Liverpool’s youngest scorer in their history having opened his account in just his second appearance for the club.

That combined with the fact that Hull City are actively looking at bringing in the nine-cap Welsh international does make the move a good one for both sides. Ben Woodburn is considered to be one of Liverpool’s brightest prospects and has the potential to become a major part of the club’s future, but at the moment Jurgen Klopp wants to make sure that the player gets the game-time he needs to improve.

Woodburn’s loan spell at Sheffield United showed exactly what can happen when a player doesn’t join the right club, but Hull City are the team that can help him grow. They have an outside chance at a run to a promotion spot but at the same time, the Tiger’s aren’t going to get relegated, which only means that Nigel Adkins would be more than willing to let Woodburn play.

It’s that right combination of events that should help Hull City land Ben Woodburn, but at the same time, the 19-year-old could be the answer to their creative problems. But with Rangers, West Bromwich Albion, Blackburn, Brentford and even Wigan Athletic interested according to the Scottish Sun, any move by Hull City needs to be fast.
