How to beat Demise in Zelda: Skyward Sword – Guide

published

In this Zelda: Skyward Sword Guide, we will tell you how to beat Demise. Follow the guide carefully in order to win this fight.

The earth split open one terrible day, unleashing demonic forces. The land was devastated by their attack. They did this out of a desire to possess the supreme power—power without equal—that Her Grace, the Goddess, was protecting. To send the remaining humans above the demonic hordes, the Goddess collected them on an outcropping of dirt.

Ghirahim has been attempting to resurrect the character he named “Demise.” The Demise is first encountered as a distinct entity known as “The Imprisoned.” Link must defeat him early in the game after having witnessed numerous nightmares of the beast and being in the Sealed Grounds, where he is located. Ghirahim successfully revives Demise in the World of the Past near the end of the game, and it’s up to you to stop him.

The encounter with Demise marks the game’s point-of-no-return, so if you want to finish Skyward Sword, now is the time to discover every Heart Piece, every Gratitude Crystal, and fully upgrade every piece of Link’s gear. So how to beat Demise? The fight can be divided into two phases for you.

How to beat Demise in Skyward Sword: First phase

Pure sword-on-sword combat is the first phase of your fight against Demise; it’s vital to note that Skyward Strikes are ineffective during this time. Instead, you should attack Demise when he leaves a little gap after an attack, or you can even knock him unconscious with a shield bash. Demise will largely block all of your blows with the sword once known as Ghirahim if you attempt to attack him as a regular enemy.

Blocking is the focus of your fight’s first phase. Keep a tight eye on demise. Shield his blows and make one swipe with your sword. He will be temporarily shocked if you parry enough times in a row, allowing you to hit him repeatedly. You’ll need to hit him hard, but don’t rush; simply keep parrying.

How to beat Demise in Skyward Sword: Second phase

The Demise boss fight’s second phase features a lot of lightning and Skyward Strikes. You will need to avoid Demise’s version of Skyward Strikes. However, you are unable to charge your Skyward Strikes as usual. The sky will get gloomy, and lightning will fall from the heavens as the second phase of your struggle against Demise begins.

Throw the lightning you capture at Demise. He will be momentarily stunned if you strike him. Try to cause as much attack as you can by getting close. You won’t risk being attacked if you happen to throw it at the same moment as he does since they will neutralize each other.

Demise’s charge attack is the main attack you’ll need to be on the lookout for. It does a tonne of damage and stops the fight’s progress. You can use a backflip to get away whenever Demise charges.

Hold your blade aloft to capture lightning. Use this particular Skyward Strike to hit Demise before moving in to start attacking more. The first time you attempt to land a fatal blow, you might fail. Demise will tumble backward onto the ground once you have dealt him enough damage, at which point you will be encouraged to deliver a Fatal Blow.

But if you’re not quick enough, demise might get back up. In this case, all you have to do is attack him once more till he collapses. You’ll need to repeatedly knock him to the ground. Continue doing damage in the same manner. Once you successfully land a fatal blow, Demise will be defeated.

Conclusion

Now all you need to do is enjoy the closing cutscenes. You can choose to resume in Hero Mode after the credits, but you won’t be able to go back and finish any side missions or find any Goddess Cubes. Skyward Sword’s Hero Mode is Hard Mode, where creatures get more difficult to vanquish and enemies become more formidable. Any cutscene can be skipped, Demise can be fought in the Thunder Dragon’s Lightning Round, and after getting the True Master Sword, Skyward Strikes won’t need to be charged.
