Horacio Zeballos Career
Horacio Zeballos is an active tennis player, with a professional career spanning more than two decades. He is a specialist doubles player at the moment but achieved moderate success as a singles player on the ATP tour in the initial years of his professional career.
Zeballos has never won a Grand Slam title but has been the runners-up in doubles on two different occasions the Wimbledon and the US Open. The Argentine veteran has won one ATP title in singles and 19 doubles titles in his professional career till date. The 38-year-old is still a regular on the ATP tour and is one of the most experienced doubles players in the men’s circuit.
Zeballos broke into the professional tour as a singles player in 2005. He was very active on the ATP Challenger tour during the initial phase of his career and even won five singles titles at that level besides six doubles titles.
As a singles player, his moment of fame came in 2013, when he won his first and only ATP senior singles title till date. He won the title at the VTR Open, Chile in 2013, beating Rafael Nadal in the final and in the process become one of only four players (with Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray) to beat the Spaniard in a clay-court final.
He achieved his career-best singles ranking of World No.39 in 2013 but he went through a gradual downfall since then. Zeballos is no longer an active singles player on the professional tour and is not ranked by ATP.
Zeballos earned fame and most of his laurels in doubles. He has won 19 doubles titles at the senior ATP level and was ranked as high as World No.3 in 2019.
He is a two-time Grand Slam runners-up in doubles but unfortunately, hasn’t been able to win a major. The Argentine star is currently ranked World No.18 in men’s doubles. Zeballos continues to create new records on the ATP tour as a doubles player even though he is in the twilight phase of his career.
