The stealth horror game Gloomwood follows you as a mysteriously abducted protagonist to a forgotten, twisted Victorian metropolis undergoing a horrendous transformation. Discover the accursed mystery hidden within the fog by wielding your cane sword.
With haunted streets, dark tunnels, and decadent mansions, the producers of DUSK, AMID EVIL, ULTRAKILL, and FAITH bring you this terrifying, gothic immersive sim. During this haunting adventure inspired by the immersive sims and survival horror greats of the late 90s and early 2000s, you must use stealth, an arsenal of eccentric weapons, and your wit to survive and escape a dark, Victorian city ravaged by an ancient curse.

Gloomwood Guide: Environment
Gloomwood is filled with enemies and it is very easy for you to bump into them. Listen for footsteps and conversations in advance. Continue exploring and remember you can lean out to see more. The environment says a lot and if you pay attention then you will find your answers and you will know what you have to do next. You will have to pay attention to your surroundings and the voices you hear.
Gloomwood Guide: Vision cone colors
A yellow cone will indicate an enemy is suspicious. This should be taken as a signal to hide in the shadows. Otherwise, you’ll be discovered, the cone will turn red, and you’ll likely end up chased by your enemy. If you want to be away from this then you will have to pay close attention to the color of the enemy’s vision cones. If you neglect that then best of luck!
Gloomwood Guide: Luggage case
Upon starting the game, you won’t be able to check your inventory, but you will soon find a Luggage Case. By taking it, you will unlock your inventory. The tab key will open the main inventory window, the one with items. The shift key will change the tab to show the gear slots where weapons and clothes are to be equipped.
The Undertaker
A semi-secret weapon, the Undertaker has an ammo capacity of one, so every shot has to be reloaded. There are two types of ammo available, incendiary bolts and slug bolts. When you fire an incendiary bolt, you set the target on fire.
With a slug bolt, you do no damage but can shatter glass, light sources, and activate buttons. Instead of a crosshair, it has a flashlight that is attached to it. On the side of the pistol, you can see which sort of ammunition is loaded; incendiary bolts are orange, while slug bolts are black.
Do not forget to save the game
It is not possible to save the game freely at Gloomwoods. The saving option is only available on the phonographs. Fortunately, these machines appear in multiple locations, and you can use them as many times as you like. Therefore, whenever you find one, quickly save your game so that you can continue from there if anything goes wrong.
You have limited inventory
In Gloomwood, you have a limited inventory. If your inventory fills up, make sure you discard the least useful items, such as bottles found in frequently visited areas. You will have to be careful about what you pick up because you only want to carry the important things with you right?
Important items
Among the items, you can find safes and keys. A safe requires a combination in order to open it, and keys can be used in more than one door. In addition to finding safes and keys, you can also discover valuables, new weapons, and unique gadgets.
Use your Journal
The J key will open your journal. The four primary tabs are Status, Documents, Maps, and Keys.
- Status – You can examine your physical and emotional well-being as well as any illnesses you may have.
- Maps – You can go through the maps you’ve discovered, such as those that show how the main structure of the area is laid out.
- Keys – You can see the keys that have been acquired and find out how to use them.
- Documents – View all notes and papers that were discovered.
Keep checking your ring
Your detection status can be checked with the ring you receive at the beginning of the game. Make sure you always remain in dark places but be aware that light coming from outside may suddenly illuminate some places.
Explore
Whenever you visit new areas, you should spend some time thoroughly exploring them. There’s a good chance you’ll find an alternate way into a heavily guarded area or through a group of enemies.
