Two Bruno Saltor replacements Brighton should target in the summer

Bruno Saltor could hang up his boots in the summer after his contract at Brighton and Hove Albion expires.

The Spaniard, 38, signed a one-year deal last April, extending his stay at the Amex until 2019. Bruno has achieved cult status at Brighton, having made over 200 appearances for the Seagulls since joining from Valencia back in 2012.

The Spanish full-back has played only eight Premier League games this season as Chris Hughton has preferred Martin Montoya at right-back. Truth to be told, Bruno has entered the final stage of his career and it’s high time Hughton brings in a replacement this summer.

Keeping that in mind, here are two players Brighton should target in the summer transfer window to replacing Bruno.

  1. James Tavernier (Rangers)

James Tavernier has enjoyed a fantastic season with Rangers till date. He has improved leaps and bounds under Steven Gerrard’s management, supplying the Gers with 10 goals and as many assists in 27 Scottish Premiership games.

The 27-year-old may still be defensively suspect, going forward he is arguably the best full-back in the Scottish Premiership. Tavernier is a modern-day full-back, known for pace, agility, energy and crossing abilities. He loves to maraud forward down the right and contribute to the team’s attacks as much as he can.

The former Newcastle United man is a set-piece specialist, whilst his leadership qualities could prove invaluable for Brighton.

At 27, Tavernier has entered his prime and Hughton would be wise to consider the Rangers star to replace Bruno.

  1. Kenny Lala (Strasbourg)

Strasbourg star Kenny Lala is becoming one of the best right-backs in the Ligue 1. He has been outstanding for Strasbourg this season, scoring four goals and assisting eight impressing times whilst impressing with his overall high-flying displays.

Lala’s attributes make him a perfect fit for the Premier League. The Frenchman is a dynamic, versatile and speedy player and also possesses a lethal right foot with superb passing range and a powerful shot.

The 27-year-old is also a decent dribbler who always backs himself to take on his man and beat him with his pace and intelligence. His current deal runs until 2021, so Brighton have to splash a lot of money to bag Lala’s signature this summer.

On the whole, Lala could turn out to be a fantastic addition to the Seagulls backline ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
