Kim Clijsters made her return to professional tennis recently but she already had met Sofia Kenin years back

Sofia Kenin won her first Grand Slam in the 2020 Australian Open but she might have picked up some tips from former World No.1 Kim Clijsters.

The Belgian retired from tennis but made a return recently. However, Clijsters was knocked out of the first round in the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Clijsters is still working on her game and she might meet Kenin in another tournament.

That would not be the first meeting for the pair as back in 2005, Clijsters took a young Kenin around the Miami courts.

Clijsters was one of the top athletes in tennis at that time while Kenin was a 6-year-old hotshot.

For some reason, Kenin is called ‘Sonya’ throughout the video, but that could have been an error. She wasn’t a big name then, but she had some big plans for the future.

Clijsters even took her around to the press room where she sat in the main chair. It seemed that Kenin knew she would be a great player and also had an eye on a Grand Slam.

The youngster claimed she wanted to win Wimbledon over the US Open, and only wanted to see what was going on in the courts.

There was more fun for her as she met American sensation, Andy Roddick, too.

Time flies for the pair

Fast forward to 2020 and Kenin is set for a great future. It will be interesting to see how she does in the remaining Grand Slams this year.

Clijsters, for her part, can participate in any ATP tournament as a wild card, since she is a former No.1.

The Belgian could feature in one of the Grand Slams too, but she needs to pick up her form.

A meeting with Kenin could be on the cards in the future and this video will be talked about the, for sure.
