Predicted Chelsea XI to face Mol Vidi FC in the Europa League

Chelsea produced arguably their best performance of the season to put an end to Manchester City’s unbeaten run, getting themselves back to winning ways after a 2-1 debacle against Wolves at Molineux last week.

Chelsea demolished PAOK 4-0 on Matchday 5 and Maurizio Sarri’s men will be the favourites to claim all three points when they make the trip to Hungary to face Mol Vidi FC on Thursday night.

The Blues have already qualified for the knockout stages of the UEFA Europa League as the group leaders and this will be a good opportunity for the manager to try out some of his out of favour stars.

Team News

Mateo Kovacic is struggling with a thigh problem and is unlikely to feature in the Europa League while Marko van Ginkel is a long-term absentee. Maurizio Sarri will be expected to make radical changes to his line-up for the Europa League game.

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Maurizio Sarri

Predicted XI

1. Willy Caballero (GK)

The veteran Argentinian hasn’t got a game in the Premier League this season but he should get a look in for this dead-rubber.

2. Davide Zappacosta (RB)

The Italian international hasn’t played much part in the Premier League but has always been a regular for the cup competitions.

3. Gary Cahill (CB)

The Englishman has looked very solid whenever he has been called into action and he definitely deserves a start for this one.

4. Andreas Christensen (CB)

He put in a poor shift at the back against Wolves in the Premier League but he is likely to get another opportunity in the Europa League.

5. Emerson Palmieri (LB)

He has been a regular for the Europa League games and should get a start for this one as well.

6. Cesc Fabregas (CM)

The Spaniard put in a lacklustre performance against Wolves but Sarri should hand him a start in the Europa League to rest Jorginho.

7. Ruben Loftus-Cheek (LAM)

The Englishman has proven his worth whenever he has been given a chance and he should be one of the first names on Sarri’s teamsheet for this fixture.

8. Ross Barkley (RAM)

He has been a regular for the Blues in the Europa League and the injury to Kovacic would guarantee his place in the line-up.

9. Callum Hudson-Odoi (LW)

The youngster got his name on the scoresheet against PAOK in the last game and Sarri should give him another chance.

10. Victor Moses (RW)

The Nigerian has fallen out of favour under Sarri but he should get a start for this one in place of Pedro who deserves a rest.
