Daniel Ricciardo’s illustrious F1 career could come to an end very soon as per reports

Daniel Ricciardo has been tipped to leave F1 at the end of the 2022 campaign with his contract set to be terminated early by McLaren. The Australian has endured a difficult 2022 campaign so far, lying 12th in the drivers’ standings with just 22 points to his name. Speculation is rife that McLaren are exploring the option of tearing up Ricciardo’s contract before the year is out, with the star reportedly demanding £12 million to agree to an early release.

Some reports suggest that Daniel Ricciardo has been informed by McLaren that they intend to end his contract early and replace him with Oscar Piastri next season. If the rumours are true, Ricciardo does not have too many options to continue in F1 next season. There have also been reports which have linked Ricciardo to a switch to IndyCar in 2023.

Will Daniel Ricciardo join Haas next season?

According to reports, Daniel Ricciardo received messages from Haas team principal Guenther Steiner at the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix on July 31 ahead of the summer break. Ricciardo is expected to leave McLaren, who he has represented since 2021, ahead of next season and has been the subject of silly season rumours that he is anticipated to address at this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix. Amidst all the drama, there is a possibility that Ricciardo could sign a contract with Haas for 2023.

Haas’ F1 2023 driver line-up will include Kevin Magnussen who is contracted on a multi-year deal but Mick Schumacher’s current contract expires at the end of 2022, and his future is uncertain. That is where Ricciardo reportedly may come in.

Alpine are also a serious option for Ricciardo. He represented them when the team was known as Renault.Ricciardo is currently paid £12.2m by McLaren this season – making him the fifth-highest earner on the grid. Schumacher is paid less than £1m this season so accommodating Ricciardo’s wages may be an issue for Haas.
