The Hungarian GP is set to take place this weekend at the Hungaroring circuit – who is the most successful F1 driver there?

The Hungarian Grand Prix is one of the oldest F1 racing events held annually in Mogyoród. Since 1986, the race has been a round of the FIA Formula One World Championship. It was first held in 1936 and the 38th edition of the Hungarian GP will take place this weekend.

The record for the most number of wins at the Hungarian GP is held by the driver with the highest net worth in F1, Lewis Hamilton – 8 wins. McLaren is the most successful constructor with 11 wins. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton has the fastest lap record at the circuit – registering a timing of 1:16.627, driving for Mercedes in 2020.

Lewis Hamilton has enjoyed more success than any other driver at this circuit. He has won eight of the 14 F1 races he has competed in there. One more victory would see him set a new record for most wins by a driver at one grand Prix.

The only other driver to win in Hungary more than twice is Ayrton Senna. He did so in 1988, 1991, and 1992. He could have had more too, just missing out in 1989 and 1990.

Nelson Piquet, Damon Hill, Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel, Mika Hakkinen and Jacques Villeneuve have all won the race on two occasions.
