Franz Tost is a former F1 driver and the current team Principal of AlphaTauri F1 team – he issued a statement about the sale of the team.

AlphaTauri team Principal Franz Tost has issued an official statement that Red Bull has no intention of selling the team. Rumours have been circulating in the recent past that Red Bull are planning to sell AlphaTauri following the death of company founder Dietrich Mateschitz last year. There were suggestions that Red Bull are not satisfied with the team’s new identity, the squad having been rebranded from Toro Rosso for 2020, failing to significantly boost the fashion brand’s following. However, Tost has put an end to the rumours as of now.

In the official statement, Tost clarified: “I had some very good meetings with Oliver Mintzlaff, who confirmed that the shareholders will not sell Scuderia AlphaTauri, and that Red Bull will continue supporting the team in the future. All these rumours have no foundation, and the team has to remain focused for the start of the season to perform better than last year.”

Despite the official statement, one can never be too sure because the F1 dynamics are pretty volatile. It remains to be seen how things turn out in the upcoming days.
