Red Bull to welcome back Acura branding for the US GP

It has recently been announced that both Red Bull and AlphaTauri will be sporting Acura sponsorship in this week’s US GP. Acura is Honda’s North American sub-brand which was last seen in F1 back in 2007. This will mark the brand’s first F1 appearance in over a decade.

The brand was regularly seen in Honda’s races in the American sub-continent form 1980s to 90s. Red Bull and AlphaTauri are set to feature the brand name on rear wing, helmets and basically every part where the name Honda was previously featured. This branding will only feature in the US GP 2021 and not beyond that.

Acura also has a huge presence in the American motorsport industry. Having regularly featured in racing events across the country beyond F1.

Can Red Bull repeat the success of 1989 with Acura branding?

The Acura branding first featured in the 1989 US GP where Alain Prost who was sporting the brand on his helmet won the race. Red Bull will look to repeat the success on their second debut with the brand’s name on their cars.

However, this racing weekend will be as tough as it can be. The F1 season has come down to it’s business end and the title race between Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton is tighter than ever.

If every thing goes to plan for the Red Bull team, Verstappen should be able to extend his lead in the Driver’s Championship standings over the seven time world champion Hamilton.
