Mattia Binotto firmly believes that F1 will get more competitive in the upcoming seasons

Ferrari team Principal Mattia Binotto believes that there will be more teams in contention for the F1 championship title next year. The Ferrari boss believes that Mercedes are a potential contender in 2023 besides Ferrari and reigning champions Red Bull. Red Bull dominated F1 this season with very little competition from Ferrari during the initial stages of the season while Mercedes showed glimpses of their class in the last few weeks.

Mercedes are catching up with Ferrari even in this year’s Constructors’ championship and it is difficult to predict how it will eventually finish with two races to go. Speaking on Mercedes’ challenge, Binotto said: “We have seen a very strong Mercedes both in terms of pace and degradation.

We have already focused on next year’s car for some time; we stopped developing the 2022 single-seater very early while they continued to bring developments to the United States and Mexico as well. For this reason, it is not surprising that they have improved and are fast. However, this clarifies that next year will not be a battle between two teams.”

Fans react to Mattia Binotto’s statements on Twitter

Binotti found himself on the receiving end of jokes and trolls after his statement. Let us look at some reactions from fans on Twitter.

“it will, you just wont be in the battle”, mocked a fan.

“He is obviously talking about the midfield which Ferrari will take part in”, wrote another fan.

“Yeah Mattia it will be, between Mercedes and Red Bull, I’m afraid you’re not invited”, the trolls continued.

“this team bottled so hard when it was just 2 teams fighting, if it’s going to be 3 teams next year then it’s most likely ferrari being p3”, tweeted another fan.

Another fan wrote: “Somebody tell him that this year was not also about a battle between two times. Apparently there is a detachment from reality in his head.”
