Brandon Royval might have missed out on a title shot but he is confident of beating up the champion, Deiveson Figueiredo

Brandon Royval picked up a shoulder injury in his previous UFC fight and provided an update on the same while speaking to WERMMA.

Royval will undergo shoulder surgery and be out for six months but things aren’t all that bad for him in the Flyweight division.

Brandon Moreno got the better of Royval and then fought Deiveson Figueiredo for the title. Figueiredo and Moreno ended as a majority draw and the pair will fight again in a few months.

That seems to be working well for Royval, who wants to get back to fighting for the title and believe he could take on the loser from Moreno vs Figueiredo 2.

However, he also believed that the champion, Figueiredo, could be dispatched easily.

Even Garbrandt can beat him

Figueiredo was taken to the limit by Moreno and that took off some of the unbeatable aura the Brazilian had around him.

Royval also believed he could get the better of the champion and claimed that title contender, Cody Garbrandt, could also get the win:

“I think I would piece Figy up man. I think he is slow, I think I have a big reach advantage. Think he is 5’5” or whatever, you know what I am saying.

“I think I could pick him apart from the outside, I think he’d just be swinging and missing air, honestly.

“Think he looks super beatable, I think Cody Garbrandt beats the s*** out of him too, now that you can see that fight play out.

“I don’t know, I think I match up really well against him. I like the match up, I like the match up with all the top guys in the division really.”

It will be interesting to see what is next for Figueiredo and Moreno. The pair should put on another great show and there could be a new Flyweight champion.

That would be music to Royval’s ears as he looks to return to full fitness and shake the loss by Moreno off.
