Leicester City player ratings vs Watford

Leicester City registered their sixth win of the season as goals from Jamie Vardy and James Maddison helped the Foxes secure a 2-0 victory over Watford at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Vardy converted from the spot to put the home side in the driver’s seat in the 12th-minute before Marcus Albrighton picked out James Maddison with a delightful pass to set up the second goal in the 23rd-minute.

Watford pushed for an equaliser but the Hornets let themselves down with some poor finishing. Demarai Gray could have added a third goal, only to have his shot come back off the outside of the post.

Etienne Capoue was sent off in the 90th-minute as Javi Gracia’s men suffered their third defeat in their last four Premier League outings.

Leicester City player ratings

1. Kasper Schmeichel (6.5/10)

Had some nervy moments but did not have too much to do as Watford let themselves down with some poor finishing.

2. Ricardo Pereira (7/10)

Contributed a lot to the attack and showed good awareness at the back, something that was lacking in his game earlier in the season.

3. Wes Morgan (7/10)

Used his strength to good effect and kept things tight at the back as Watford tried to find their way back into the game.

4. Jonny Evans (6.5/10)

He had some troubles dealing with the pace of Isaac Success but stuck to his task and did a pretty good job.

5. Ben Chilwell (7.5/10)

Defended with a lot of composure and contributed to the attack with some good overlapping runs.

6. Wilfried Ndidi (6/10)

Not a particularly good performance from the Nigerian in central midfield. Looked a bit clumsy with his passing and distribution and lacked his usual sharpness.

7. Nampalys Mendy (7/10)

Did exceptionally well to stop Success from scoring when he was clear through on goal and impressed with his tenacity and work-rate in midfield, winning back possession and looked comfortable in with the ball at his feet.

8. Demarai Gray (7/10)

Always a lively presence down the flanks and added that much-needed impetus and energy to the attack from the wide areas; unlucky to have his shot come back off the post.

9. Marc Albrighton (8/10)

Picked out Maddison with a brilliant pass to set up the second goal and always tried to make things happen in the final third.

10. James Maddison (8.5/10)

Another impressive outing for the youngster. Sparked creativity in the final third with his incisive passing and took his chance very well to score the second goal.

Wasn’t always involved in the game but did his bit in front of goal, winning the penalty and converted it clinically.
