Wolves Opinion: Why Nuno should go all out to sign Andrea Pinamonti?

According to a report from Calciomercato, Wolves are one of the clubs interested in signing Inter Milan striker Andrea Pinamonti, who is currently on loan at Frosinone. The other clubs keen in the teenage sensation’s signature are Sampdoria, Sassuolo, Parma and Fiorentina.

Andrea Pinamonti, 19, has done exceptionally well on loan this season in a relegation-threated Frosinone side, scoring five goals and assisting twice in 22 matches. And his fantastic form has caught the attention of a host of Serie A clubs, while high-flying Premier League side Wolves are also believed to be after his services.

Andrea Pinamonti

Wolves have been brilliant upon their return to the Premier League last year as they currently sit eighth in the table.

The Midlands outfit eliminated Manchester United out of the FA Cup quarter-finals but failed to progress in the competition’s finale after losing to Watford at the Wembley Stadium last weekend. Yet, Nuno Espirito Santo will be proud of how things have panned out in the top-flight.

With the season drawing to a close, Wolves did a smart job by signing Raul Jimenez permanently from Benfica. Jimenez has enjoyed a stellar debut season in the Premier League so far, scoring 12 goals and assisting a further seven and it was a step in the right direction for the Molineux-based outfit to acquire his signature on a permanent basis.

However, with a place in the Europa League a real possibility next season, Nuno’s side will need to strengthen their options up front. And Andrea Pinamonti will fit the bill perfectly at the Molineux as the youngster will undoubtedly add quality to Nuno’s side as well as compete with the likes of Jimenez and Diogo Jota.

Despite standing at 6ft 2in, Pinamonti is extremely agile and quick and has the burst of pace to get past defenders and score. The Italy U20 international is a technically-gifted player whose ability to find team-mates in tight spaces and his finishing in front of goal belie his age.

The 19-year-old’s movement in and around the box makes him such a difficult player to keep an eye on for the defenders. Also, the Italian is a threat in the box from set-pieces and his link-up play would be massively valuable for a side like Wolves that is blessed with a lot of pace down the flank.

However, Pinamonti is a raw article who has a lot of room for improvement.

Verdict

Pinamonti is just 19 but he has already shown signs of huge potential at Frosinone and in the youth levels of the national team. He is certainly blessed with the qualities to thrive in England and Wolves must not think twice in signing him ahead of the 2019/20 campaign.
