Three top-level strikers that Everton can target to solve goal crisis

German outlet BILD has reported that Everton are surprising contenders in the race for Timo Werner, with the Toffees looking to strengthen their front line with a bonafide goal scorer. However, given the fact that Manchester United, Real Madrid and a few others are in the race for the German star, they are not the front-runners.

That being said, Everton need someone reliable to lead the line, having watched both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Cenk Tosun struggle to find the net this season. While both Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson are doing well, they need back-up and adding a top-level forward is definitely the answer.

#3 Maximiliano Gomez

The 22-year-old has been great for Celta de Vigo since he arrived last season, showing the world what he can do finishing with 19 goals in 36 appearances for the La Liga side. The Uruguayan is clearly one for the future, and if Everton can sign him, then his abilities in front of goal will reward them handsomely.

Not the fastest around the block, Gomez’s ability is a rather agile target man who knows where the goal is always is. Physical, a great finisher and has an excellent link-up play, the 22-year-old is a lot like former striker Romelu Lukaku. While he may be a bit of a wild card, his abilities in front of goal is undoubted and he would make a great move for Everton.

#2 Alvaro Morata

Alvaro Morata

While his struggles in the Premier League have been widely documented, Morata’s abilities could be very useful for the struggling Everton side. Now with Chelsea looking to bring in someone else, there is a chance that like Lukaku, Morata too might get a second chance to prove himself in the Premier League with Everton.

While he once again might be a massive risk for the Toffees, at the moment, they’ve got nothing to lose and maybe the pressure of not chasing after a title could help the 26-year-old. He is a good finisher and while Morata does have a few high profiles misses to his name, there are worse options for Marco Silva.

#1 Ciro Immobile

IF there is any striker in the world Everton should be targeting, it should be the 28-year-old former Borussia Dortmund striker. An out-and-out poacher, Immobile has scored 78 goals in 111 appearances for Lazio, with him scoring 36 goals in 41 appearances for the Serie A side last season, winning the Serie A’s top scorer award.

Now this season, Immobile has still managed to score 11 in 23 games, which includes seven goals in seven fixtures for Lazio. For Everton, the 28-year-old could prove to be the answer to all their goal-scoring troubles and while he may take time to adapt to the Premier League, there is no doubt how good he would be for them.
