Devin Miles Haney is an American professional boxer. He is also the current undisputed lightweight champion and has held the WBC title since 2019.
He started training professionally at 14 at the Mayweather Gym. He started boxing at seven. In his amateur career, Haney won seven national titles. Only at age 17 did he become the youngest boxer to win. The Youth World Championships in Reno.
He had an amateur record of 138-8 bouts before turning professional in 2015. After turning pro at 17, Haney could not compete in the US because of minimum age regulations. So, his first four fights were in Mexico.
He won the WBC Youth, IBF-USBA, IBF North American, WBC International, WBO Inter-Continental, and WBA International lightweight titles as a professional at the regional level.
In October 2019, Haney became the youngest world champion in boxing when he was elevated as the WBC lightweight champion after it promoted previous WBC lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko to “Franchise Champion” by the WBC.
Devin Haney then went on three defence fights against Alfredo Santiago (undercard fight of KSI vs. Logan Paul), former unified featherweight titlist Yuriorkis Gamboa and former three-weight world champion Jorge Linares. He successfully defended his championship three times.
