After receiving a bye into the round of 16 of the Delray Beach Open, Fritz took on Ecuadorian No. 1 Emilio Gomez. Fritz was the outright favorite to win the match and he registered a comfortable win against Gomez. Fritz smashed 11 aces in the match and had a win percentage of 79 on the first serve. After losing the first set, the 34-year-old won the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to register a memorable come-from-behind win. In the round of 16, Mannarino defeated 9th seed J.J. Wolf in straight sets 7-5, 6-2. The veteran served quite well and had a win percentage of 81 on the first serve.
