Milot Rashica would be an ideal signing for Crystal Palace next summer

According to Calciomercato, Crystal Palace are interested in signing Werder Bremen winger Milot Rashica in the summer.

The same report claims that the Kosovan international’s blistering performance in his side’s 4-0 victory over Augsburg in the Bundesliga has caught the eye of Palace and the Eagles might table a bid for him in the summer.

A youth product of Kosovan club Vushtrria, Rashica completed a switch to the Eredivisie with Vitesse Arnhem back in 2015 and established himself as one of the best young players in the Dutch top flight. The 22-year-old accumulated 15 goals and 24 assists from 100 appearances for the Dutch outfit across all competitions over the course of a two-and-a-half year spell.

Rashica has thrived in the Bundesliga at Bremen, registering 4 goals and an assist from 13 appearances this term. To go with his fine form at the club arena, the 22-year-old has also been on song for Kosovo in the UEFA Nations League, amassing 2 goals and 3 assists from 6 outings.

Essentially a right-footed inverted winger operating down the left, Rashica has also been used on the right as a more conventional winger and through the centre as an auxiliary forward. Known for his pace, trickery, quick feet and eye for goal, Rashica likes to take on the opposition’s full-backs with his quick acceleration and clever changes of direction.

While the Kosovan is adept at creating chances with his crossing and crisp passing from the wide areas, he often tends to test the goalkeeper with curling shots from outside the area. Furthermore, he is an extremely diligent player with plenty of drive and determination who not only has the ability to light up the scene with something special but can also force a mistake or two from the opposition.

To put things into perspective, he would be a potentially good signing for Crystal Palace ahead of the upcoming season, with the Eagles in dire need of creativity and cutting edge in their attack.

Roy Hodgson’s side have lacked that X-factor in their attack all season and the Eagles currently sit 13th in the Premier League standings, just three points clear of the relegation zone. While Palace have done pretty well defensively, they haven’t been able to create too many chances going forward, with the absence of a powerful centre-forward in Christian Benteke leaving Wilfried Zaha and Andros Townsend to cut isolated figures in the attacking third.

Benteke and Connor Wickham have both struggled with long-term injuries and the Eagles need more pace and firepower up front next season. And Rashica, although a relatively unproven talent at the highest level, can turn out to be an exciting prospect with his unpredictability.

That said, the Eagles should continue to keep tabs on the 22-year-old and table a bid to bring him to Selhurst Park next summer.
