Clay Guida made his MMA debut way back in July 2003 at Silverback Classic 17 in a first-round submission loss to Adam Copenhaver.

After 6 fights, Guida was 3-3 in his MMA career. He bounced back remarkably well, by winning 15 fights in a row to go 18-3 up.

During this time, he fought across several promotions like Xtreme Kage Kombat, Xtreme Fighting Organization among others.

Following a loss to Tristan Yunker that saw his 15-fight win streak come to an end, Guida moved to Strikeforce in March 2006, where he took on Josh Thomson.

Guida lost to Melendez following which he left Strikeforce.

On the 14th of October in 2006, Guida moved to the UFC. He took on Justin James and earned a submission win over Justin James.

Guida then hit a rough patch, winning just 1 of his next three fights. He then went on a three-fight win streak, which included a win over Nate Diaz, before going on to lose two fights in a row.

‘Carbon Fibre Jaw’, then won four back-to-back fights, earning notable victories over Rafael dos Anjos and Anthony Pettis.

Then came a horrific run of form. Guida managed to win only 3 of his next 9 fights, as he struggled to earn victories over fresh blood.
