Chernobylite – Things to know about Before You Buy

published

Chernobylite is the new PC game that is taking the Steam charts by storm and here is the review of what the game is about

Chernobylite is an exciting mashup of the open-world RPG and survival horror game. The open-world aspect is not that explored but you can choose an area that you want to explore and do some particular missions in it. It has an old school feel to it with doing a mission in a selected area.

The world building and the story of the game are absolutely amazing. The story has a base of the original Chernobyl incident but that’s where the similarity ends.

The world of Chernobyl is simply amazing. According to the developers, the areas of the game were created by actually 3D scanning the Chernobyl wastelands. They used a method called hyper-realistic 3d scanning which creates an eerie experience for the player.

This is especially notable as the game had absolutely no funding. The game was funded using a Kickstarter campaign. The Kickstarter campaign exceeded the $100,000 funding goal. In the end, they raised over $206,000 to use the hyper realistic 3D scanning technology. The amount of work that the team has put into the game is extremely superb.

Chernobylite Reviews (Steam)

The game has a pretty heavy plot. The choices you make will affect the major events of the game taking a major toll on your mind. Some very intense scenes can be alarming for a player who is unfamiliar with this type of storyline.

The plot of Chernobylite

The player plays as a physicist, formerly employed at Chernobyl Nuclear Plant. He is suffering from the loss of their beloved partner in the Chernobyl Disaster 30 years ago. He returns to the disaster zone to look for their partner or at least some clues related to them.

Most of the single-player gameplay revolves around exploring the exclusion zone. The player has to spend time gathering supplies and tools while encountering “Stalkers” and hostile military personnel.

You are also forced to make decisions that affect the nonlinear storyline. There is also a crafting system, which allows the player to craft their own equipment and weapons. Any character can die and any task can be failed which makes the game more challenging.

The game takes a sharp turn when we discover the supernatural threats deep in the containment zone. The strange supernatural events are due to the “Chernobylite” created from the nuclear aftermath.

Chernobylite Gameplay

You play the game as Igor, an ex-employee at the Chernobyl plant. The game is played from Igor’s perspective. You can choose your own play style. The game offers multiple choices as to how you want to deal with a particular situation.

You can stealthily complete your objectives or you can go into a rampage mode. Whatever choice you make the game will reward and punish you at the same time.

Although the game takes place in the Chernobyl area, the story is completely different. You encounter a hostile military presence and some weird people called “Stalkers.” The game takes a sci-fi supernatural turn when they introduce some of the other effects caused by the incident.

You have to play with your allies, supplying them with food, medicine and intel. This is an important aspect of the game as it can get increasingly hard to progress. You work with them to finally uncover the truth about all the events that are happening.
