Carsen Cade Edwards a.k.a Carsen Edwards was the 2019, Round 2, 33rd overall draft pick by the Philadelphia 76ers (later traded to the Boston Celtics). Edwards plays in the position of Point guard and he is also the winner of the 2018 Jerry West Award.
Edwards played college basketball for Purdue University from 2016 to 2019. During his college career, Edwards averaged 17.8 points, 2.5 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game. Consequently, he was named to the 2019 Consensus second-team All-American.
In 2019, Edwards declared for the 2019 NBA draft, forgoing his last season of college eligibility. Consequently, Edwards was selected thirty-third overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2019 NBA Draft. However, his draft rights were later traded to the Boston Celtics.
Edwards played for the Celtics during the 2019 NBA Summer League season and averaged a team-high 19.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 23.4 minutes over five games.
Eventually, on July 14, 2019, the Celtics announced that they had signed Edwards. In his rookie year, that is the 2019-20 season, Edwards played 37 games, averaging 3.3 points and 1.3 rebounds per game.
However, on February 6, 2020, Edwards was re-assigned to the Maine Red Claws, the NBA G-League team.
He played for the Celtics in the 2021 NBA Summer League. Then on September 15, 2021, Edwards was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies but was waived eight days later.
