It would be an understatement to say that Nick Kyrgios is in sublime form. Hubert Hurkacz will have to bring his A-game to topple the Australian when they meet at the quarter-final stage of the Canadian Open 2022.

Nick Kyrgios

The 27-year-old has been sensational as of late. He reached the final of the Wimbledon Championships and has carried the momentum into the tournaments that have followed. After winning the doubles event in Atlanta Open, Kyrgios went on to win both the singles and doubles events at the recently-concluded Citi Open.

So far in the Canadian Open, Kyrgios has managed to win two of his three matches in straight sets. In the round of 64, he defeated Argentine Sebastian Baez with relative ease. Kyrgios passed a stern test against the world No. 1 Daniil Medvedev in the round of 32. A 6-2, 6-3 win against compatriot Alex de Minaur followed in the round of 16 and that has allowed Kyrgios to progress to the quarter-final stage in Montreal.

Hubert Hurkacz

The Polish tennis pro has won 30 out of the 43 matches he has played this season. He also has a Halle Open title to his name in 2022. However, his returns in the last two tournaments he has played have been quite abysmal. At the grass-court major, Hurkacz lost in the first round and a similar fate awaited him in the Citi Open.
