Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios has always been the talk of town in the tennis world. His antics have labelled him the ‘bad boy’ of tennis.

Djokovic has won both the Grand Slams this year and is aiming to win a record-equaling 20th Grand Slam at Wimbledon later this month.

The feud between the two started in 2019, with Kyrgios claiming that Djokovic wanted to be everyone’s cup of tea. Ever since then, Kyrgios has had various run-ins with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer, as well.

Kyrgios has had his fair share of antics including throwing bottles and hurling abuses at fans. He is also an entertainer with his shot making and bag of skills. He is ranked 58th ahead of Wimbledon, where he has beaten Rafael Nadal. However, the Spaniard has withdrawn from the tournament due to fitness reasons.

Djokovic has surprisingly never beaten the Aussie in his career. Kyrgios is 2-0 with wins at Indian Wells and Acapulco in 2017. Djokovic lost out on the hardcourts on both occasions.

Despite the flawless record, Kyrgios is wary of the Serb’s game which is at the top of his game. Kyrgios has also called Djokovic a ‘bonehead’ and ‘tool’ in the past.

Djokovic, earlier had some words for the young gun after a brief spat. He was quoted saying (h/t The Age):

“I think he’s good for the sport. Obviously, he’s someone that is different. He goes about his tennis, he goes about his off-court things in his own authentic way. I have respect for him.”

Djokovic is set to compete in the 2021 Mallorca Championships as a warmup to Wimbledon this week where he is aiming to win his third major of the year.
