Braun Strowman was one of the surprise members in the list of released superstars in WWE.
‘The Monster Among Men’ was shockingly released from the company, due to budget cuts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. He was recently feuding for the WWE Championship picture with Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre.
According to a report from PW Insider, Strowman is asking for a hefty amount as high as in the five figure range to join an independent promotion. They said, “Word is that Strowman is pretty set financially, and doesn’t need to immediately start booking indie appearances. However, it was said that if a promoter comes along and meets the right price, Strowman would be interested.”
Braun Strowman signed a new $1.2 million multi-year deal with WWE in 2019. He was one of the highest earners on the men’s roster. Strowman apparently did not sign a no-cut clause, which would guarantee his stay in WWE.
However, there is also word going around that the backstage team feels he was past his prime. With the introduction of Omos on Raw and Commander Azeez on SmackDown, Strowman’s booking seemed less appealing in comparison.
Strowman boasts a long list of accolades in WWE while facing some of the company’s greatest like Goldberg, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.
Where will we see Braun Strowman next ?
Strowman had an interesting character when he appeared on WWE television, a one of the disciples of Bray Wyatt. The ‘Monster Among Men’ gimmick is one of the most destructive in WWE history.
A more likely destination is obviously Tony Khan’s AEW. The new haven for former WWE Superstars could be a gamble, as they could face booking him in a proper storyline.
Strowman is a valuable asset to any company like NJPW or Impact, if they are able to hold out the fee that he demands. Strowman will be the hottest free agent in wrestling history. The promotion picking him up is sure to add a great entertainer to their roster.
