Brandon Scherff was an All-State talent as a senior at Dennison High School, playing as a two-way lineman. He was also a track and field athlete, getting ranked number 44 as an offensive tackle prospect in 2010. He went on to attend Iowa University after rejecting offers from plenty of other good colleges.
Scherff was voted the best offensive lineman prospect during his junior year but he committed to finishing his college career. The Redskins picked him fifth overall in the 2015 draft and handed him a fully guaranteed four-year deal. He became the first player from Iowa to be drafted in the first round since Robert Gallery in 2004.
The 30-year-old made his NFL debut in a 17-10 loss against the Miami Dolphins. In his rookie year, he playedin all 16 games and registered 752 snaps, helping the Redskins finish first in the NFC East with a 9-7 record.
