Arsenal vs Newcastle United prediction: Arsenal line-up

Arsenal entertain Newcastle at the Emirates next weekend and the Gunners desperately need to get back to winning ways.

Mikel Arteta has brought optimism into the squad with his arrival but the results have continued to be poor. The Spaniard has just one of his seven Premier League games in-charge and would be hoping to end the 4-game winless streak in the league.

On the other hand, Steve Bruce’s men have also tied their last two league games and will try to beat Arsenal.

Team News

Kieran Tierney is set to remain on the sidelines after a shoulder surgery while Callum Chambers will not take part for the rest of the season after a knee ligament injury.

New signing Cedric Soares will be out for three more weeks and Reiss Nelson is riled out of the fixture as he has just returned to training. Bukayo Saka will be doubtful for the game after picking up a knock to his knee and hip.

Probable Arsenal XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Bernd Leno (GK)

The German is Arsenal’s first-choice in between the sticks and will definitely start.

Hector Bellerin (RB)

Bellerin has been brilliant since his return to the squad after the injury. He did a decent job in the last outing and became a threat to the opposition in the final stages of the game. He is expected to start and help at both ends of the pitch.

Sokratis (CB)

The 31-year-old was left on the bench against Burnley but should make it to the starting XI ahead of Mustafi in this fixture.

David Luiz (CB)

Back from suspension and was brilliant in the last game. He will be partnering Sokratis in the heart of the defence.

Sead Kolasinac (LCB)

The Bosnian has suffered from a lot of injuries and is expected to return to the squad after missing out in the last game due to lack of fitness. He needs to be at his best and avoid further damage to this thigh.

Lucas Torreira (CDM)

A stronger tackler, Torreira will be expected to stop Newcastle’s attack. He should start in Arsenal’s midfield.

Granit Xhaka (CDM)

The Swiss international seems to be better since Arteta was brought back to the club. He has formed a good partnership with the Uruguayan and should continue ahead of Matteo Guendouzi.

Nicolas Pepe (RW)

The Ivorian has shown his worth in the last few games. His movement will be key to break open the Magpies’ defence.

Mesut Ozil (AM)

Ozil has been a revelation under the new manager and the game against Manchester United showed why he should be a regular starter. He will need to be at his best once again.

Gabriel Martinelli (LW)

The youngster couldn’t do well on the right side against Burnley. He should start in his favoured position and there are chances of scoring goals with him on the left.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (ST)

Aubameyang needs to step up his game and score a few goals to help the team cross the line. He will be leading the team from the front.
