Arsenal FC Opinions: Denis Suarez needs to be offloaded in the summer

Arsenal have always been a club that’s been revered for it’s uncanny ability to scout and find the most brilliant budding talents in world football. Former manager Arsene Wenger was the mastermind behind these transfers but even after his departure, the act has continued.

Like many in the past including Cesc Fabregas, Aaron Ramsey and Robin Van Persie, various players have come to Highbury or the Emirates from far and wide only to have left as massively rated superstars.

The recent smart and under-the-radar acquisition of central-midfielder Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient can be considered to be one of the signings of the season and at just 19, the Frenchman has turned into a massive player for the Gunners.

Since arriving in July, the youngster had featured in 25 league games and has been a regular feature of most of Unai Emery’s line-ups.

Capable of holding onto the ball even in pressure situations, the youngster displays amazing composure on while he also puts in a shift every time he steps on the pitch.

Another similar signing was made by the Gunners in the recent January transfer window but for once, it doesn’t seemed to have worked out very well for either party.

The move for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez was seen as a revolutionary move by Unai Emery which could have potentially changed the way Arsenal play.

But instead, the 25-year-old has only featured 4 times in the league for the Gunners and is yet to start a game or provide a meaningful contribution to the side. Whenever he has been brought on, he looked off the pace and void of match fitness.

Although there is a 6-year age gap between the Spaniard and Guendouzi, their situations are quite similar. Suarez was always touted to be a superstar at Barcelona but things didn’t exactly go to plan for the midfielder.

His game-time at a club like Barcelona was bound to be limited and predictably, that’s one of the reasons for his willingness to make the drastic switch to the Premier League. He definitely arrived at the Emirates expecting more playing time but has been left disappointed.

An excellent passer of the ball, his skill-set can be best described as a weird and unnecessary crossover between Mesut Ozil and Henrikh Mkhitaryan which is certainly not the kind of player that Arsenal need at this point in time.

He is often seen jogging with the ball and he just doesn’t seem to have the dynamism or the physical strength to really make a statement in the English game and that’s why they mustn’t hesitate in sending the midfielder back to Barcelona in the summer.
