In 2012, Şengün began playing youth system basketball with the youth teams of the sports club of Giresun University. He played for the University until 2014.
In 2014, Şengün signed a youth contract with Banvit. In the 2018–19 season, while playing for the Banvit’s juniors, Şengün eventually won the Turkish Basketball Junior League championship and was also named the Turkish Junior League’s MVP.
