Alexander Volkanovski made his MMA debut at Revolution Promotions- Revolution at the Roxy on the 19th of May, 2012 against Gerhard Voigt. He started off with a unanimous decision win.

After having gone 3-0 up he suffered his first and only defeat in his MMA career – a TKO loss to Corey Nelson at the Australian Fighting Championship.

There was no looking back from there, for ‘The Great’. On the 14th of June, 2015 he won the AFC Featherweight Title after beating James Bishop via. TKO.

Following a title defense against Jamie Mullarkey and a win over Jai Bradney at Wollongong Wars 4, Volkanovski moved to the UFC.

He made his UFC debut against Yusuke Kasuya at UFC Fight Night: Whittaker vs Brunson, and earned a TKO win over Kasuya.

Volkanovski made headway very quickly, stacking up wins over Mizuto Hirota, Shane Young, Jeremy Kennedy and Darren Elkins.

‘The Great’ went on to beat veterans Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo to earn a featherweight title fight against Max Holloway.

At UFC 245 on the 14th of December, 2019, Volkanovski made a statement victory over (unanimous decision) Holloway to win the featherweight title.

In a war, 7 months later at UFC 251, Volkanovski defended his featherweight title successfully against Blessed.

He then defended his title successfully in another battle against Brian Ortega at UFC 266, followed by a win over Chan Sung Jung.

After his win over TKZ, Volkanovski faced Holloway for the third time, and eased to a unanimous decision win.

His second career loss came at the hands of Islam Makhachev when he moved up to the lightweight division in a bid to become the double champ. The fight took place at UFC 284, with Makhachev winning a close unanimous decision.
