Matt Cardona shared who set him up with Chelsea Green

Matt Cardona, formerly Zack Ryder of WWE, revealed who set him up with fiance and current WWE NXT superstar Chelsea Green.

Ryder/Cardona was one of the many wrestlers that WWE let go of in mid-April as part of a cost-cutting measure during the coronavirus crisis.

Cardona is currently not aligned with any company after being released by WWE, as he waits for a 90-day non compete clause to run out.

Cardona reveals who set him up with Chelsea Green

Taking time out to interact with fans, Cardona took part in a Q&A session on Twitter recently. A user, @SeanResurrected, asked the former WWE superstar how did he meet fiance Chelsea Green.

Replying to the question, Cardona tweeted:

Cardona/Ryder was released by WWE after a 14-year stint. His fiance, Green, though is still very much a part of the company on NXT. The two have been dating since 2017 and got engaged in April last year.

Now, it has emerged that AEW head honcho Cody Rhodes and wife Brandi had a hand in Cardona and Green getting together.

One of Cardona’s best friends in the business, Rhodes had expressed a desire to sign him on AEW in the past but did distance himself from speculations soon after he was released by WWE.

Cardona himself as hinted at a potential move to the promotion. Recently, Cody exclaimed that he would defend his AEW TNT Championship every week going forward, with the challenge being open for all. Following the announcement, the ex-WWE star had tweeted:

Will we see the two wrestle for the AEW TNT Championship in the near future?
