Mike Chioda made an appearance for AEW this week after he was released by WWE

One of WWE’s longest-serving referees, Mike Chioda, was the latest to join AEW. The 54-year-old is known for his time with WWE but made his debut on AEW Dynamite officiating two huge matches.

One took place between Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy and Chioda had a role to play in this. Jericho tried to use a weapon during the match but Chioda was having none of it.

The 54-year-old has called some of the biggest WWE matches during this modern era, and he is a huge signing for AEW.

Chioda was one of the big names released by WWE during the coronavirus pandemic, and he had spent 31 years with the promotion.

However, Chioda has bounced back with AEW and also officiated the TNT title match between Scorpio Sky and Cody Rhodes.

AEW have nabbed several WWE stars since the promotion started but some believe this could be one of their best signings yet.

Kevin Nash claimed Chioda was the “cherry on top” when it came to matches. Bully Ray, another former WWE star along with Nash, also agreed with this sentiment:

Chioda makes a huge comeback

It was a bit of a surprise seeing Chioda getting released by WWE. However, he was simply too big a name to not be involved in the wrestling business.

Fortunately, there are many top promotions around the world and in America too, and it was great seeing Chioda make a return.

Many WWE stars were upset and wished Chioda well after he left the promotion. However, it will be interesting to see if he is involved in some storylines too.

AEW referee Aubrey Edwards has been included in some storylines as the promotion has blurred the lines between officiating and wrestlers.
