Sheffield United Opinion: Why the Blades should go all out for Loren Moron?

According to a report from Informa Betis, newly-promoted Sheffield United have made an enquiry about Real Betis striker Loren Moron, who has also attracted interest from Spanish outfits Espanyol, Osasuna and Granada.

A product of Real Betis youth system, the 25-year-old broke into the first team in January 2018 with seven goals in just 15 league games. However, Moron had an ordinary last season with Betis as he managed just eight goals in 45 games across all competitions.

Yet, the Spanish striker has managed to catch the eye of several clubs, including Sheffield United, who will play the next season in the Premier League.

Chris Wilder 1

Chris Wilder’s side finished runners-up in the Championship last season, which saw them achieve automatic promotion alongside Norwich City. The Blades have a very exciting yet incredibly difficult season in the Premier League ahead of them and summer recruitments will be very crucial.

The club has released quite a few players that are not deemed fit to help Wilder and co. next term.

Given the fact that Gary Madine has returned back to Cardiff City after his loan expired and the likes of Conor Washington and Leon Clarke have been released, Sheffield United do need a new striker to compete and cover the likes of Billy Sharp and David McGoldrick.

Sharp and McGoldrick forged an excellent partnership up front in the Championship, scoring goals for fun. However, both are almost similar kind of strikers and lack real pace that can threaten Premier League defences. Signing Loren Moron, therefore, would make complete sense.

Loren Moron

In Moron, Sheffield United will be getting a player who is blessed with good pace and power which would make him ideal for the physical nature of the Premier League.

He likes to make runs in behind defences and his movement in and around the box helps keep the opposition defenders always alert. The Spaniard is a decent dribbler with the ball and knows to work in the right channels in the opposition half.

The Marbella-born forward’s finishing needs some working and Wilder could be the right manager to improve his overall game. Yet, Moron will add more dynamism and pace to United’s attack, whilst giving Wilder a different dimension to that of Sharp and McGoldrick.

Verdict

Sheffield United may have made it to the Premier League but surviving is easier said than done, as Fulham and even Cardiff City have proven. By signing Moron, they will receive a major boost in their pursuit to stay up on their return to the top-flight next season.
