Cantwell – A future leader in Leicester’s midfield?

At the moment, Rodgers has six attack-minded central midfielders at his disposal – Youri Tielemans, Harvey Barnes, Dennis Praet, Adrien Silva, Matty James and Marc Albrighton. Only Tielemans and Barnes have been regular starters and Albrighton has been used on several occasions since the restart.

Praet has made just 12 starts so far. However, James and Silva haven’t offered much to the squad and have just one more year left on their contract with the club. And their departure would reduce the numbers in the middle of the park for the Foxes. Thus, bringing in youngsters would help them secure their midfield for the future.

In that regard, signing Cantwell would serve them well going forward. He has been the brightest player for Norwich despite the club getting relegated. In 39 matches across all competitions, he has an impressive tally of 7 goals and 2 assists. He could be a crucial player for the Foxes in the future if he is able to replicate the same form.

The English youngster is capable of featuring in the midfield and can also operate from the wings, providing plenty of options at Rodgers’ disposal. He can also develop himself under the Scottish tactician and could establish himself into a Premier League player with some experience.
