Why Liverpool must sign Jadon Sancho in the near future
Liverpool secured another systematic 2-1 on Saturday over Brighton, with an 11-point gap now amassed over last season’s champions Manchester City.
They have managed to do this week after week and are the only team to still be unbeaten in the English top tier. Understandably, given the unrivalled level of consistency and stability exhibited, Liverpool need to replenish their squad in the upcoming transfer window.
According to The Sun, the Reds are now being touted as the favourites to land Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.
It has all started to go wrong for Sancho in recent weeks at Signal Iduna Park. After being fined for turning up late from international duty, he was made to train in the rain (h/t The Sun). His performance on the field against arch-rivals Bayern Munich was just dismal and he was substituted 36 minutes into the game. In their subsequent clash versus Barcelona, he did not make the cut into the final XI.
A move to Liverpool, however, could be on the cards for the English winger in the January transfer window.
Plying his trade in the most competitive league in football would not only take his career to the next level undoubtedly but, in Jurgen Klopp, he will have a tactician known to increase the efficiency of players.
Amidst all the chaos surrounding his career at Dortmund, Sancho’s form continues to be impeccable.
The England international has picked up where he left off the last term, netting four goals and providing six assists in 10 Bundesliga appearances so far.
Sancho can cause numerous problems for opposing defenders, as he’s able to manoeuvre his body in an unorthodox manner. Liverpool’s attack is renowned for being difficult to handle and the Englishman’s presence would only add to that.
While it remains to be seen if he leaves in January, Sancho’s introduction would allow for proper rotation between Liverpool’s best attackers.
In addition, the option for a tactical switch to a 4-2-3-1 would open up, with Salah through the middle, Firmino as the no.10, and Mane and Sancho on the flanks.
Thus, considering his form and skills, Sancho’s presence is capable of making the Liverpool attack one of the best in Europe.
